The Consulate - A Historic B & B
We invite you to join us in our home as our Bed and Breakfast guest. This unique house has been a landmark in Victoria British Columbia for over six decades. When we bought our home it was said to have been built in 1929 as the home and office of the Japanese Consul. After years of research, we now know that this was not the case.
The house was built in 1941, designed to exacting standards by well respected Victoria architect Hubert Savage. The house was custom built for Mrs. L.L. Bailey. Our new quest is to find Mrs. Bailey’s descendants to try and determine the reasoning behind the distinctive pagoda design. The pagoda shaped exterior intrigues all who pass by.
